Welcome Vaughan Evans

When the dynamic and highly skilled Corey Thomas left us this spring after finishing up at St Thomas University in Fredericton, we went into┬ásearch mode for a new bass player. While we were “beating the bushes” we asked our friend Vaughan Evans if he knew of anyone who could step in and play bass for us. He surprised us with his answer. “I enjoy playing bass, it’s an instrument I always try to pick up and play when I’m jamming with a bunch of people. I wouldn’t mind giving it a shot and trying it for a while if that’s OK with you.” Vaughan is best known in the Fredericton area as an amazing guitar player, having played in the past with national touring acts such as Luba and Fear Of Flying.

Since he began playing bass with us it has become apparent that, if Joe Bonnell originated from the Bubblegum Crater on planet Mars, then Vaughan Evans must also be of some extra-terrestrial origin. While he might claim to be from Nashwaaksis, his ability to immediately take on the tunes and flawlessly apply tasty grooves has been other worldly.

Bass players admired by Vaughan include Chris Squire (Yes), Roger Waters (Pink Floyd), “Duck” Dunn (Booker T. and the M.G.’s), Sir Paul McCartney (Beatles), and Nathan Lamar Watts (bassist and music director for Stevie Wonder).

A huge thank you to Corey Thomas who graced the stage with us for a year. A big welcome and also a thank you to Vaughan Evans. As for the “if it’s OK with you” part, yes Vaughan, it’s OK with us for you to play with us as long as you want!!!
